MODEL 456 HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEY DEPTH SOUNDER
DUAL FREQUENCY

The Model 456 dual frequency, survey depth sounder provides survey quality electronic chart and digital depth information. Dual analog depth soundings are displayed on a high resolution, daylight readable, color graphic LCD, in six colors. The digital depths are displayed on a separate, large character, alphanumeric  LCD which also displays operator menu selections for setup. Once the setup parameters are entered, the 456 operates automatically – tracking up and down slopes – with a minimum of operator intervention. The chart display screens can be internally stored, either continuously or on command, on a 112 mb Flash Ram for later viewing or hard copy printout via standard computer equipment. Digital depths are output to a computer via one of four bi-directional RS232 ports available. Optionally, the 456 can be furnished with built-in DGPS or RTK. The small, lightweight unit contains the latest electronic technology and is ideal for use on small boats for waterways maintenance hydrographic surveys and for any survey with varying bottom densities and sub-bottom conditions.

MODEL 448 THERMAL DEPTH SOUNDER RECORDER

The 448 Thermal Depth Sounder Recorder provides survey precision, high resolution depth recordings using solid state thermal printing. The lightweight, portable unit is designed for use in small boat surveying as required for nautical chart production, engineering surveys, harbor and channel maintenance, pre and post dredge surveys, etc. The Model 448 TDSR uses a thermal printing technique pioneered by Innerspace for depth sounding which provides the high resolution and accuracy required by groups such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, dredging companies, survey companies, port administrations, etc. The design allows easy integration into hydrographic data collection systems.

There are more 448’s in service in the USA than any other precision depth sounder. It is widely used by private survey companies, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In the Corps of Engineers alone, there are over fifty 448’s in service at 18 district offices and a number of 449’s as well.

In our opinion, and in the opinion of many of our customers, the 448 is the best precision sounder on the market in terms of performance and reliability. Many customer references are available and will be provided upon request; you owe it to yourself to get user comments before you purchase.

MODEL 449 THERMAL DEPTH SOUNDER RECORDER

The 449 Thermal Depth Sounder Recorder is a precision survey and scientific depth sounder with black and gray tone thermal printing. Chart recordings provide excellent detail where prevailing conditions include suspended sediments (fluff), light silt, mid water layering (thermal or biological) or aquatic vegetation. Unique Gray Threshold feature allows selective imaging of mid water replies. Single and dual frequency models are available.

The 449 is used for high speed (20 knots) condition surveys on ten boats in the lower Mississippi River by the New Orleans Corps of Engineers, where the hard bottom is digitized through a suspended sediment layer. The frequency used by the New Orleans Corps is 27kHz.

MODEL 449DF-1D THERMAL DEPTH SOUNDER RECORDER

The 449DF-1D Thermal Depth Sounder Recorder is a precision, dual frequency survey depth sounder. The unit provides high resolution, dual frequency chart recordings, digital depth display and RS232 output. Depth display and output may be switch selected: F1, F2 or F1 & F2 alternating.

Typical frequencies are 200kHz and 24kHz or 210kHz and 33kHz. The 449DF-1D is usually furnished with transducers, but existing customer owned transducers of any frequency can be used. Over-the-side or hull mount transducers are available.

Maximum delineation between the two frequencies is obtained by printing one frequency in black and the other in gray.

MODEL 449DF THERMAL DEPTH SOUNDER RECORDER

The 449DF Thermal Depth Sounder Recorder is a precision, dual frequency survey depth sounder. The unit provides high resolution, dual frequency chart recordings and digitally displays both frequencies simultaneously. Maximum delineation between the two frequencies is obtained by printing one frequency in black and the other in gray. Typical frequencies are 200kHz and 24kHz or 210kHz and 33kHz. The 449DF is usually furnished with transducers, but existing customer owned transducers of any frequency can be used. Over-the-side or hull mount transducers are available.

MODEL 447 THERMAL DEPTH SOUNDER RECORDER

The Model 447 is a precision navigation depth sounder for commercial and military ships. The 447 comes with remote depth alarm/depth display. The main cabinet has both thermally printed analog chart and digital display. Typically, digital depth would be displayed for the entire cruise, and the chart recording turned on when entering and leaving port for archival document purposes. Depth output is in NEMA format for use with integrated bridge navigation systems.

The 447 can be furnished with a transducer of any frequency; typically 200 kHz or 24kHz, or can be set up for use with a transducer already installed in the hull of the ship. Using an existing transducer saves the cost of dry-docking the ship.

When used at 200 kHz, the 447 can measure to within one foot of the hull mounted transducer face, an important consideration when entering or leaving port to determine the hull-to-bottom clearance.

The 447 is currently installed on a number of Arco Marine oil tankers where they are providing flawless performance.

MODEL 445 AUTOTRACK

The Model 445 Autotrack is a digital depth sounder/depth digitizer – stand alone operation or attachable to any analog depth sounder. The 445 is useful in very small boat applications and where no analog chart is required. The unit may be connected to data logging or computer equipment.

The 445A version provides deep water digitizing to 5,000 meters plus when used in conjunction with high power transceivers such as the 450C.

MODEL 450C TRANSCEIVER

The Model 450C is a 2kw sonar transceiver for deep ocean bottom profiling or shallow water seismic profiling. Unique local (front panel) and remote (external computer) controlled operation. The unit can be set up to operate at any commonly used sounding frequency from 3.5kHz to 50kHz. Parameters which may be controlled include: transmit power and pulse length; receiver gain; bandwidth and TVG selection; shallow or deep operation; calibration; and more.

The 450C can be used with line scan recorders, such as EPC or Dowty, for analog and/or Innerspace Model 445 Autotrack for digital depth or any other similar device. It can be furnished with transducer or set up to function with any existing customer owned transducer.

The 450C is currently being used by naval groups and an oil exploration company for deep water bathymetry.
