INNERSPACE TECHNOLOGY

WHY IT MAKES SENSE TO RENT

YOUR SOUNDER OR HYDROGRAPHIC

SURVEYING SYSTEM FROM INNERSPACE

Innerspace is the manufacturer of most of the equipment in its rental pool, but also has equipment of other manufacturers, including: DGPS, Total Stations and computers. We have wiremen / assemblers, machinists and electronic and mechanical engineers on staff. There is a full machine shop on premises available to make custom pieces, if necessary, for a particular installation. Our engineers have over 25 years experience in hydrographic surveying techniques and in assembling integrated systems and survey ready boats. They are available to “walk you through” our rental systems via telephone from your office or cell phone from your boat.

Training is usually not necessary. Many first-time users are able to operate our systems, including software, in less than one day without factory training. However, on-site training is available anywhere in the world. Upon request, we can send a qualified hydrographer to your site to get you familiar with the system operation which, typically, takes about one day. After this time, the factory hydrographer can leave the site or remain for as long as required.

Innerspace does not bid on solicitations for survey services, but provides complete solutions for those companies that do. If you think that you might like to do hydrographic surveys, but feel it might be too difficult for you, call us- ask for Rick or Steve, let them explain how easy it is with modern equipment and our help. We do everything except bid against you.

Compare Innerspace’s capabilities with those of a typical equipment rental company with little or no technical knowledge, and no systems integration experience. If you think about it, we’re sure that you will select Innerspace for all your hydrographic surveying system rental requirements in the future.

For your information, Innerspace has assembled graphic illustrations of complete hydrographic data collection systems using the most popular brands of DGPS, RTK–GPS and Total Stations combined with Innerspace products.

The software depicted is Innerspace’s Datalog With Guidance (DLWG). Because it can be self-taught in an hour or two and is easy to use, it is the only hydrographic data collection software that lends itself to rentals. No factory training is required. Innerspace regularly rents systems, including DLWG software, to first time users and they are able to set up the system and conduct professional quality hydrographic surveys.

All brands of hydrographic software can be used with Innerspace depth sounders, and Innerspace provides expert integration assistance. As a Trimble dealer,  Innerspace offers their HYDROpro software especially designed for complex applications requiring extensive on screen graphics such as large scale dredging projects, for example.

Several times a year we rent the 448 depth sounder from Innerspace for surveying shipping berths in the Charleston area to monitor siltation rates. The 448 has always provided excellent performance on our surveys.

Trap Puckette, General Engineering Labs, Charleston, South Carolina

Our firm routinely rents the Model 448 depth sounder for bathymetric surveys in support of design and construction efforts for flood protection and channel restoration projects in Central California. The depth data is correlated with our Trimble 4800 GPS system to achieve survey grade positioning and incorporated with topography mapping to complete a digital terrain model surface. The Model 448 has always provided consistent, precise depth data and has proven to be extremely reliable equipment under tough field conditions.

I have rented 448 and 449 depth sounders for use on lakes and rivers in the Midwest. I have found that the Innerspace sounders provide quality analog and digital depth data, and they are reliable instruments. My most recent project was for the Chicago Botanical Gardens where I surveyed a large pond on the premises to determine the thickness of the sediment over the original clay bottom. For this job I used the Model 449 dual frequency sounder set up at 208kHz and 41kHz. We were able to detect 1-2 feet of sediment and the water depth was about 12 feet. Our main business is land surveying and engineering, so renting from Innerspace is ideal for our needs.Mike Reed, Smith Engineering,
McHenry, Illinois

In December 1997, we rented an Innerspace 448 depth sounder, and, at the time, had never operated a depth sounder before. The 448 was easy to set up and use, and worked well. Our hydrographic job consisted of contouring a lake bottom for inclusion in a larger aerial mapping project for a dam reconstruction plan.Ken Lux, Lux Engineering & Surveying, Yuba City, California

At Richard B. Davis Co. Inc., we use Datalog With Guidance because it meets our criteria for hydrographic survey software. It is simple to operate, and usable on any computer. Datalog With Guidance has no overhead programs, so we don’t duplicate in-house software. Of course, we appreciate the lower cost. We have also used Datalog With Guidance in our airplane with satisfactory results.Kelly Schellong, D. Davis Co.,
Smith River, California

Between 1995 and 1998 I have rented an Innerspace hydrographic surveying system consisting of a 448 depth sounder, DGPS with Reference Station and Datalog With Guidance software on six occasions. Surveys have been for engineering studies, dredge volumes and channel determinations. The system performed well and the data obtained was accurate.Russ Sutton, Ryba Marine Construction Co., Cheboygan , Michigan

We rented the Innerspace 448, DGPS and Datalog With Guidance data collection software, and used the system on a reservoir modeling survey in Virginia. The system was easy to set up and use, and we were able to operate the hardware and software without training.Todd Ward, EA Engineering,
Sparks, Maryland

In May 1998, we rented a 448 sounder, Topcon AP-L1 auto-tracking total station, Datalog With Guidance software and Innerspace 453A RF Modems from Innerspace. My project was for a dock construction project on the Mississippi River. We were able to operate the equipment without training, and the survey was completed without difficulty.Ken Wink, Wink Engineering,
New Orleans, Louisiana

We rented a 448 sounder, Datalog With Guidance software and a Topcon AP-L1 total station from Innerspace for use on a dredging survey and coastal erosion survey in Hawaii and, with minimum effort, were able to get excellent results without training. Innerspace was available for immediate assistance via telephone.Ian Wasnich, Oceanit Labs, Inc.,
Honolulu, Hawaii
I have used the 448 sounder and Datalog With Guidance software on several coastal and river projects in the New York-New Jersey area. Both are easy to setup and use, and the Innerspace staff is always knowledgeable and helpful. Our primary business is environmental sampling, so renting equipment from Innerspace for our occasional hydrographic survey makes sense to us.Jim Nickels, Aqua Survey, Inc.,
Flemington, New Jersey
Using our Trimble LS4600 GPS interfaced with the Innerspace 448 sounder and Datalog With Guidance software, we conduct hydrographic surveys of small to medium sized bodies of water in Central Florida. The X-Y-Z (depth) coordinate files (ASCII format) produced by the Innerspace data collection software is then processed on our terrain modeling software. We have found this method to be very precise and cost effective.Norman Schile, Norman Schile Co.,
Lakeland, Florida

Our company rented a 449, DGPS and Datalog With Guidance software to obtain a bottom contour of a New Jersey lake to merge with land survey data of the surrounding area for client planning purposes. The system worked well, and we were provided valuable assistance from Innerspace personnel in setting up the equipment.Glenn McAllister, Pennoni Associates,
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
On six occasions during 1997 and 1998, we rented the Innerspace 448 sounder and Datalog With Guidance software for a variety of hydrographic projects, including docking facility surveys and pipeline route surveys in Louisiana. The equipment worked very well on my projects and, in November of 1998, we purchased the 448, Model 603 Helmsman Display and the Datalog With Guidance software.Lonnie Harper,
